The 14th century brought significant changes for the entire English chivalry. These changes affected not only the uniforms used by the knights, but also the very system of formation of the royal army. If in 1300 The army was composed of people fulfilling their feudal duties, then already in 1400 the King commanded an almost professional army, the knights of which received a pre-agreed payment for participating in a military campaign. The knights of the Hundred Years' War used chain mail, brigand and plate armor; cats and surcoats were worn over the armor. Bascinet and tophelm helmets were used to protect the head. Mail collars provided additional protection for the neck and shoulders. Mostly knights were armed with one-handed, two-handed swords or axes.
