The M2 Browning heavy machine gun entered service with the US Army in 1933. M2 machine guns were mounted on tanks, aircraft, ships, and were used by infantry. They were exploited after the end of World War II - in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. Effective against infantry, unarmored and lightly armored vehicles, as well as aircraft at low altitudes.
