The Velox V10 "PRO" 1/10 scale 200mm chassis features the latest innovations designed by Patrick Schäfer and Alex Kempe including the input from team drivers and customers all over the world. The car has already proven it's performance at international events at the ENS Rd 1 in Hockenheim setting the fastest laptime and the ENS Rd2 at the European Championship track 2013 in Kirchberg where factory driver Jilles Groskamp claimed the victory in front of several former European Champions and other topdriver from all over Europe.
Known from all Shepherd Velox models also the V10 PRO features the unique Direct-V-Brake system which provides durable and powerful braking through the use of rear diff mounted brake disks and a cable activated braking system. Upon applying the brake on the transmitter, the cable pulls two rear levers that clamp the brake pads against the twin, long life, ventilated aluminium disks providing strong and consistent braking performance every time.
Coming with much smaller high-quality 7075 T6 aluminium bulkheads the overall weight of the V10 PRO is reduced by nearly 150g compared to it's predecessor. By the use of aluminium bulkheads the drivetrain is much stiffer and more efficient resulting in a very free rolling car which is less affected by temperatures changes.
The new rear lower wishbones shorten the wheelbase by 2mm giving a much more agil driving characterstic and a better turning. Additionally they sport an updated shock position allowing to mount the shocks in front of the rear shock tower for a better protection and an improved traction. The chassis plate - made of high quality 7075 T6 Swiss aluminium - is completely symmetrical resulting in an optimized flex in both turning directions.
The re-designed front end features a brand new ball-raced wire anti-roll bar for a better response at fast direction changes proving more overall steering. It's equipped with a thread on both ends to fix a 4mm uniball saving valuable space for the linkage system and making it easier to install the anti-roll bar.
A unique feature in the 1/10th scale touring car class is the possibility to adjust the front roll centre by the use of excentric inserts in the lower hinge pin brackets allowing to alter the roll-centre with two different positions. Additionally it's possible to use anti-dive as a setup option for more fine tuning.
Furthermore the front end sports new lower and upper wishbones, a carbon body mount support as well as an extra small front differential being one of the smallest of it's kind in the 1/10 touring car class. Lightweight diff outdrives and longer CVDs - both made of high quality spring steel - are included in the kit as a standard.
In the rear the upper wishbone has been replaced by a camber link (r/l turnbuckle) which is saving additional weight and improving the traction out of the corner further more. On the inside the linkage can be mounted in 4 different positions on the lightweight carbon plate while the uprights sport two different positions with the possibility to shim the uniball for multiple roll centre adjustments.
Also the rear end is equipped with a ball raced anti-roll bar which has a much better response leading to an improved traction when accelerating. Also helping to keep the car stable through the corners is the 'Velox Revolutionary Shock System' (VRS-System), hard coated aluminium shock absorbers that sport a spring loaded expansion chamber in place of a rubber diaphragm, a system that helps absorb small bumps while keeping the cars wheels on the track. The size of the rear shocks was reduced to the size of the front ones resulting in less unsprung weight and a lower center of gravity.
While the bearings of the differentials already have been mounted in plastic excentrics to adjust the belt tension by opening only 4 screws also the small bearings of the middle shaft are now installed in plastic bushings to reduce vibrations.
Another special feature is the very small, blue anodized aluminium servo saver which is about 50% lighter than the previous one. Using one screw, the user can loosen, easily adjust the setting and re-tighten the front part of the servo saver, enabling quick Ackerman adjustments even without removing the body shell.
Pivotballs in the lower front and rear wishbones, which made of high quality plastic material, simplify the adjustment of the proper length of the anti-roll bar linkage saving some time when fine-tuning the car.
The new 2-speed adaptor made of hardened steel prevents the pin from moving inbetween the 2-speed clutch shoes in case the play is not set accordingly.
