The LNER Peppercorn Class A1 locomotives were designed by Arthur Peppercorn for use on express passenger services. The last of the class was withdrawn in 1966.
The dream of building a new Peppercorn Class A1 locomotive took nearly twenty years to complete. In 2008, the dream came true when 60163 'Tornado' moved under steam for the first time.
