The Dornier Do 17 was an aircraft designed by the German company Dornier in the 1930s. At the beginning of World War II, it was one of the most important bombers of the German Luftwaffe, along with the Junkers Ju 88 and the Heinkel He 111. The aircraft was popular with the Luftwaffe. It was seen as a strong, reliable and stable aircraft. It had no armor but was difficult to hit by anti-aircraft defenses due to its limited size. The four crew members sat together in a spacious cockpit and therefore had easy contact with each other.
