It was the last English challenger of J class in the 1937 America's Cup. Its defeat by the defender "Ranger" represented the end of an age. Fragile and expensive because of the constant research of new materials and the appliance of advanced technologies, these "giants of the sea" were dropped in favour of more agile ships.
