The "Treno Azzurro" ("Blue Train") has been an express train of the Italian FS connecting Milan with Naples. Its name originates in the colours of its coaches, a choice of two blue tones. From 1958 the train has been hauled by electric locomotives of the FS class E.646, 1st series, starting with the prototypes -001-.005. The choice of the train's colours probably has been influenced by the famous European trains like the French "Train Bleu, the "Rheingold" and of course by the colours of the Naples' soccer team.
