The atypical coloring of this Convair CV-400 traces back to the founder of Condor - the baking- and pudding powder manufacturer Dr. August Oetker, who founded the airline in the 1950s to fly solvent travelers to Hamburg where they then boarded one of the ships of his shipowning company. The original of this model with the registration D-ABAB was the fi rst plane operated for the shipowning company but only for a short time since Oetker sold "Condor" to Lufthansa as early as 1961.
